Jesus and all children of the world

Οn Sunday, December 10, 2023 was the unveiling of my painting at Stormarkskirken in Nakskov. The work was revealed in connection with the service on the 2nd Sunday of Advent. In the spring of 2023 the art committee of Stormarkskirken contacted me to make a new picture to hang in the area by the baptismal font. After several meetings, we agreed on the subject: Jesus and all the children of the world. I prepared a sketch, which was approved. The colors had to match the colors in the glass mosaic. The art committee had the opportunity to follow my creative process.

Art project around the Baltic Sea: Finland, Denmark, Germany

This art project which connects people is a clear statement of all the participating artists from Denmark, Finland, and Germany for solidarity and peace in the world and wants to make a signal through art. It is a clear signal of a profound attitude and position. To be open to each other and to live together in respect and with appreciation is the essence of this art project. We, as artists, together with guests, visitors, and participants are once again crossing the Kulturbrücke über die Ostsee, the bridge over the Baltic Sea, at a time when experiences of violence and distancing increase, new boundaries are drawn and our environment is reaching its limits under the burden of destruction. The first exhibition in Denmark will be the prelude and Rostock will host the second exhibition. In Turku, Finland, the art project will be continued with a third exhibition in 2024 and will come to a festive conclusion.

I participate in the project “Art Help for Ukraine”, where you can buy reproductions of visual art and make a donation to the Red Cross in Ukraine. 40 artists have each given a motif. A collaboration between komkunst.dk and Sune Toft, STDigital - Artfactory.international

❤ My contribution is the work titled "A thousand words", which I made when I was expecting my first child. It refers to a new life, a baby. Life is the opposite of death as a result of war. "A thousand words" refers to something enigmatic. No words are enough to express what we would like to say about this war. Let us choose life, not death!

Evi Apostolou er vokset op i Patras, Grækenlands tredjestørste by.

EVI APOSTOLOU

She was born in Patras, Greece in 1977.

Evi avoids the abstract conventions to try a new and natural, human sense in her paintings.

Evi’s production passes along a period of formal investigations where the gesture and expression of the topics, the forms and colours captivate the spectator who devotes himself to reconstruct narrative stories from the visual forms.

Her figurative elements are dominated by a rigorous stylization that rejects the horizontal perspectives to favour, almost always, the zenithal ones, trying to hold at all time a tone of intimacy.

In her pictures the gestures are under control so that encourages us to investigate her own interior, and avoids the sudden attitudes that could alter a meditative climate. The tone of intimacy she uses in her paintings enables her to represent better the substance of the prominent figures, the things and the convulsions of the nature.

Evi starts a relation with the beings, the objects, the environment, the nature without forcing them, but joining them all together.

In her drawings, lines and curves, and the forms that go to diverse directions, the smoothness that goes with the force, all these elements allow her to explore very special and singular meanings, some are secret and others no. She expresses them in a way that makes the appearances visible providing that we admit and appropriate them as psychological identification.

Her disposition to formalize does not accept the IN PRONTUM because she prefers to do art carefully in order to avoid the rainfall of superficial contents. Her production has to be understood as the experienced action of a taster of paces, discontinuities, with which she builds her metaphors by having articulated title and image.

On her artwork, emotions are founded, with the intellectual reason and a logic of the sensitive thing, demonstrating with great eloquence how the abstraction can be an vivacious way for the communication.
